Liuwa Plains

Beautiful, Vibrant, Exciting, Dramatic, Remote.
Situated far to the West in Zambia, Liuwa is in the land of the Lozi people and home to some incredible wildlife yet it is a place little known even by the well traveled safari enthusiast.

A seasonal flood plain feed by waters that rise in Angola and make their way to the Zambezi leaving behind vast areas of lush grazing that are the focus of the second largest wildebeest migration on earth. Years of poaching had dramatically reduced the Lion population allowing Hyenas to flourish and become the Apex predator, but now the Lions are back and with the Lion re-introduction has come research and the discovery of previously unexpected numbers of Wild dogs amongst the plains game.

We at Busanga Safaris are one of the few who understand and respect Liuwa as a destination for the wildlife enthusiast and adventurer and 2015  will see us offer a limited number of  safaris taking small groups to Liuwa just as the plains are at their most beautiful.

Contact us know for information on our Liuwa safaris or to book on the limited space available.

We can help plan your Liuwa safari to include other parts of Zambia
and benifit from discount or even free nights.

We are offering 6 set departures guided by Robin to Liuwa Plain, ranging between 3 & 4 nights each based at King Lewanika Safari Lodge (NCS) : Liuwa Plains is home to many antelope species that are rare in other locations such as roan, red lechwe, steinbuck, oribi, duiker and the occasional roans and tsessebe. African Parks has re-introduced eland and buffalo and their numbers are expected to increase.
