photography safaris

In this section we have a selection of safaris which are either specifically designed for guests with a particular interest which are generally led by professional wildlife photographers, suitable for photographers of all standards.

All of our photographic safaris offer amazing oportunities to see and photograph wildlife, but we have also included safaris which we feel offer addidional features that appeal to photographers such as viewing blinds, whilst not being part of a specifically photo orientated safari.

If you are planning a safari do feel free to call with your photographic questions, we have several keen photographers on the team and are happy to offer advice based on our experiences.

Guest Comment : "Hi Tony

Just a quick email to say how much I enjoyed the Botswana Shutter Safari.

All the arrangements went smoothly and the animals co-operated! Nkosi the guide was more than excellent as were the other staff. I've tried to think of a single way the experience could be improved and failed!

Many thanks for your work on making it such a success."

With the wonder of wildlife, blissful beaches, warm air, barefoot and with the breeze in your hair, the Galapagos make an awesome wildlife destination.

Far out in the Pacific Ocean, 1,000km off the coast of Ecuador and at the confluence of five major ocean currents, they create a unique ecology on land as well as under water.  The incredibly rich phytoplankton starts a food chain that makes swimming in the sea like swimming in a monumental aquarium.

These islands have risen from the sea through volcanic action over the millennia, creating a volcanic hotspot between the Equator, Nazca and Cocos tectonic plates.  The result is an extraordinary archipelago, with islands of differing antiquity and wildlife populations, and of course, the great variation of species and evolution noted by Charles Darwin.  In the short time since he visited in 1835, these islands changed how we view our world.

We spend days on land on Santa Cruz Island, as well as on a cruise around these staggering islands.   For our Island cruise shore excursions we have an English speaking naturalist guide with us at all times. The guide will  expand your knowledge of the ‘Enchanted Islands’ and of the culture and history of The Galapagos.

in 2018 we will be chartering a whole ship 'Coral II' ensuring a private wildlife journey – just ask for details as soon as possible as places are already being reserved.

Uniquely Mashatu offers a blend of abundant and diverse wildlife and a wide choice of activities to explore. This is a semi desert environment and is a year round destination, with very little rain fall.

Really suited to photographers Mashatu offers productive game drives in purpose built game safari vehicles and has several photographic hides, built to maximise the photographic potential, and there is so much more to explore on foot, horse back.

Namibia – a Photographer’s Paradise

Namibia – a Photographer’s Paradise is a small group safari to the key areas over 11 days lead by professional wildlife photographer and author, Richard Garvey-Williams.
Namibia offers unique opportunities to both wildlife and landscape photographers. It is a vast country with a population of only 2 million. Large parts are desert with much of the rest being open savannah country dotted by dramatic mountain ranges. Its colour palette of blue skies, orange sand-mountains and yellow grasslands contributes to some unforgetable vistas. Much of its wildlife is uniquely adapted to this arid environment and wonderfully photogenic.
This exciting new tour offers a balance to appeal to those interested in both wildlife and landscape photography. We travel as a small group of 4-8 participants in a spacious 10-seater vehicle driven by our local guide. When we are not exploring locations on foot, the large side windows and roof hatch allow freedom to photograph from the vehicle in all directions. Richard will be on hand throughout to offer photographic instruction and will also offer a presentation each day on various relevant aspects of the art.

Situated a few minutes’ drive from Sawai Madhopur, Ranthambhore is an extremely compact tiger reserve covering some 392 km² and is the former hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Its three lakes - Padam Talao, Raj Talao and Milak Talao - are ideal spots to see waders and marsh crocodiles. The lake shores are studded with small covered pavilions, ancient summer palaces and crumbling guard posts that bear silent witness to the park’s history. On occasion the new masters of the park, the Royal Bengal Tiger, can be seen walking among the ruins and standing in the pavilions keeping watch over the lakes. As well as the tigers, there is a wealth of birdlife in the reserve, and many species of mammals to observe.
