Stanley Safari Lodge

Stanley Safari Lodge sits on a hill overlooking the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, the Spray of the Victoria Falls and the majestic wide Zambezi river to the west (sunsets!).
The style of the lodge is truly Zambian with a touch of the bygone era. The lodge offers    two types of accommodation: cottages (70 sq. meters) or suites (100 sq. meters). The latter have a private lounge, private dining table and small plunge pool.
The open-sided Main House has been designed with space and views in mind and has a truly African feel. Enjoy sundowners in the African style lounge, a 3 course dinner in the dining room or spend some quiet time in the library or upper deck discovering the secrets of Africa.
Our private table set-up ensures you can enjoy your dinner from any place you desire. Just pick a spot: on our upper deck, in our wine cellar, outdoors under the stars or in our infinity pool? Or maybe you would like to have a romantic private dinner in the room? It´s all possible at Stanley Safari Lodge. And our European-style cuisine with an African twist will make sure it will meet your appetite.
The atmosphere at Stanley Safari Lodge is tranquil and intimate, and with only 10 private cottages or suites we are able to give you an unmatched level of entirely personalised service.
Each and every cottage is individually designed. But what makes Stanley Safari Lodge really special is the open design of many of our rooms: the optimal way to experience the real Africa. Just like Stanley must have done centuries ago…And if you really want to indulge yourself, ask for one of the suites with private plunge pool.
The Victoria Falls itself are most impressive during the months of May, June and July because the amount of water (just after the rainy season) flowing through is immense and creates a curtain of 'smoke'. The nearby Mosi-Oa-Tunya National park offers the only white rhinoceros of Zambia. A day trip to Chobe National Park in North Eastern Botswana will confront you with 45,000 elephants (1/3 of all African elephants!), buffalo, lion and leopard. The best months for game viewing are July to October. This is the end of the dry season and game concentrates around the water points.
Zambia is besides its wildlife particularly interesting for its different cultures. Only 3 km from Stanley Safari Lodge is the 800-year old traditional village of Chief Mukuni, 'Monarch of the Victoria Falls'. Locally, Chief Mukuni, is known as the 'Living Stone', as he swallows a stone once he becomes Chief. This is probably the reason, that the small town of Livingstone has been able to conserve its name the British gave it to honour their explorer.
From the Victoria Falls you have an easy access (by air) for a safari to the Okavango Delta (Moremi national park) in Botswana, Luangwa National Park in eastern Zambia and Lower Zambezi/Mana Pools National Park in Zambia/Zimbabwe.

The Lodge staff can arrange a wide variety of activities such as elephant or horse back safaris (half day), Walking with Lions experince, game drives in the Mosi Oa Tunya NP (white rhino), helicopter or microlighting flights above the Falls, rafting (half or full day), bungee jumping from the railway bridge, canoeing (half/full day), full day safari (boat+game drive vehicle) to Chobe National Park in Botswana (45,000 elephants).
Exclusive breakfast/tea/lunch on an island in the middle of the Victoria Falls!!!
We suggest you arrange the activities whilst at the lodge. On arrival, the lodge manager will tell you all about each activity we offer, what they entail, how long they take, the best time of day to do them, what you need to take along with you etc. After this brief, we feel you will be fully informed and in a better position, to decide what you would like to do. Experience has taught us that it is better to book activities from the lodge, as then you can decide who wants to do them and when. As often guests book activities prior to arrival, then due to travel and being tired, are not able to enjoy them, or partake in them at all, which leads to disappointment. It is advisable to pre-book the Elephant Back Safari should pax with to do this activity, however please note all pre-booked activities carry a 100% cancellation fee.
