Waterberry Lodge

Waterberry Lodge is a small and very comfortable lodge located in a peaceful setting amongst woodland on the banks of the Zambezi River only 30 mins from the iconic Victoria Falls. Guests stay in en suite riverside cottages each with its own deck looking over the gardens  full of birdlife. The lodge is an idea base to relax after a long flight, explore the falls for a couple of days at the start or end of a safari in Zambia or Botswana or even Zimbabwe. Known for it's friendly and informal style, Waterberry offers exceptional value, including in the nightly rate two activities per day and airport transfers, (we would arrange those for you).
Waterberry Zambezi Lodge has a range of comfortable accommodation, close enough to Livingstone to enjoy all the activities there, but far enough away to escape the crowds and feel a real sensation of being in the wild.

The lodge centers around a main lounge /dining room which looks up the river and there is a bar for a relaxing drink by the pool or in the evening before (and after) diner, there is a pool for cooling dip during the day. There is a nature trail around the grounds  and a boat which is perfect for a sundowner, a pic nic trip to an island in the river or may be a fishing trip.

If you would like to book Waterberry as part of your safari just let us know and we will build it in to your itinerary. We can arrange flights to and from Livingstone.

The main double-storey lodge overlooks the Zambezi and the game park beyond.  Upstairs the main lounge is open to the high thatch with plenty of seating and magnificent views.   Meals are served in the dining area or alfresco on the sun terrace overlooking the river, or guests can have private dinners on their terraces or one of the secluded pontoons or platforms around the lodge.
The large and welcoming swimming pool, set in the centre of landscaped lawns, has a small plunge pool at to the shallow end, making it safe for children.

The floating pontoon on the river is perfect for sundowners, fishing or just relaxing and enjoying the view.

Guests can also walk a (signposted) nature trail around the lake to see birds, fish and small wildlife.

Boats are on hand for fishing and for dawn, daytime or sunset cruises and island picnics.

Double, twin or family bedrooms are open to the high thatch (nice and cooling in the hot sun), with comfortable beds, en suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and fans.
Most have private decks overlooking the river or our private dam (great for sundowners, private dinners, birdwatching or just sitting around with a good book). Take a look at the pictures on the left to see our cottages and bedroomsWaterberry has seven rooms- including secluded riverside doubles, lakeside rooms with extra beds and two family units with adjoining bedrooms.

There is so much to do at Waterberry Lodge, with activities to suit all ages, tastes and hero levels!

VICTORIA FALLS
Everyone, of course, wants to visit Victoria Falls.   The Falls, always awe inspiring, change with every season: sometimes full of flood water flowing with astonishing force and creating massive spray and huge rainbows; sometimes during the dry season you can see the bottom and walk on the upriver side across the rocks carved out by the force of water. You'll drive there in the lodge vehicle and walk the Falls - you can choose whether to do so accompanied by our guide or alone. Your vehicle will carry towels when the water levels are high, cool drinks for you to enjoy after your strenuous walk around the Falls, and the driver will guard your valuables.   There's a very good craft market at the top of the Falls for souvenir hunting.  Please note there is an entry fee into the National Park payable at the Falls.   Currently ZMK100,000 (approximately US$20) per person. The Falls and the Zambezi River formthe border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. You can cross over into Zimbabwe to look at the Falls from the other side - an entirely different perspective, espcially at low water. There are some formalities to go through to get there, so talk to the lodge us before your visit if you think you might want to do this.

ZAMBEZI RIVER CRUISES
A sunset cruise with sundowners, snacks and a knowledgeable guide will be a highlight of your stay.   Our boats are also available for daytime cruises, island picnics and birdwatching or fishing trips, and to take you up river to visit the local village.

FISHING
Depending on how many want to fish, we use either the 10 seater or 4 seater boat. This will go out for a half-day trip with a fishing guide.   Fishing is for tiger and bream and varies with the height of the river and the season.   Our policy is to catch and release.  Fishing tackle is available for use, upon request.
